The Rochester Community Concert Band is set to captivate music enthusiasts with their upcoming concert, “Musician’s Favorites.” Led by conductor Paul F. DeRubeis, this musical event promises an evening of exceptional performances and delightful melodies. Taking place on February 27, 2024, at the Stoney Creek High School Auditorium in Rochester Hills, Michigan, this concert invites the community to experience the talents of the Rochester Community Concert Band and their special guest performers.

“Musician’s Favorites” will showcase the incredible talents of the Rochester Community Concert Band, a group composed of 85 volunteer musicians from the Rochester and Rochester Hills area, as well as advanced high school and college students from Macomb Community College. This diverse ensemble, under the guidance of conductor Paul F. DeRubeis, consistently delivers outstanding performances that resonate with audiences of all ages.

The concert will feature a lineup of captivating musical pieces, including a special performance by Dr. Amanda Ross, Visiting Professor of Trumpet at Oakland University. Dr. Ross will astound the audience with her rendition of “Fantasie Brillante” by Jean-Baptiste Arban, showcasing her exceptional trumpet skills.

Additionally, the Rochester Community Concert Band will showcase the talents of their own members. Natalie Debusschure will take the conductor’s podium to lead the band in a vibrant rendition of “Festive Overture” by Dmitri Shostakovich. Bridgette Tepper, another RCCB member, will conduct the band’s performance of Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite for Military Band,” providing a fresh interpretation of this classic composition.

The concert will also feature a lively performance of “Bugler’s Holiday” by Leroy Anderson, featuring RCCB trumpeters Alex Floury, Bridgette Tepper, and Rob Roy. This spirited piece is sure to delight the audience with its playful melodies and impressive trumpet harmonies.

In addition to the highlighted performances, the Rochester Community Concert Band will present an array of musical selections designed to entertain and engage the audience. The program includes “Baba Yetu” by Christopher Tin, a captivating piece originally composed for the video game Civilization IV. The medley “Sinatra!” arranged by Stephen Bulla will pay tribute to the legendary Frank Sinatra by featuring some of his most popular songs. Moreover, to honor the hometown team, the band will perform “Gridiron Heroes,” the fight song of the Detroit Lions.
